When Billy Richards first asked me to get involved with TTD I was excited about a new T’Dance and clubbing brand. He was a new promoter, so it was as fresh for him as TTD was to me.
Unfortunately he allocated me the first 4pm-6pm slot. I knew this was going to be a quiet one, so with Pal and fellow disco whore DISCO MATT…I opened the first TTD to hit London.
TTD London promised to shake up Sundays, and at the start it seemed Sundays had shaken up TTD.
Starting at 4pm, TTD had to compete with horrible weather and a tube strike…the main crowd did not turn up until the sun decided to go down, and with what was a shaky start TTD turned it around to create a party that was busy, but not packed, full with a mix of assorted gay tribes. Bears, fetish, clubbers, chavs, hunks, gAylisters and a handful of cowboys (turning up from Les johnson return of the Cowboy party) …it all help create an event that was fun, friendly and reminiscent of early DTPM.
The venue was industrial with a minimalist approach to lighting. Its large spaces, high roof and concrete and steel ambience had many commenting on ‘how did we miss this venue’. Billy Richards, the promoter wanted a testosterone fuelled evening, and although it could have been busier, the crowd was perfect for such a t’dance. DJs Pagano, Brent Nicholls & Nick Tcherniak played a mix of tunes form disco inspired house, remixed classics, progressive, tribal and funky house. With the sweet smell of success…Billy has already planned the next event on Sunday 7th November, and another in December.
Below are two videos with a different vibe. The remix shows more of the gogos, while the original video gives you a broader vision of TTD.
