This is my first non-club/promo/speciality podcast of 2012… a mix where i select tracks I actually like, rocking my world and floors, and that are fresh off the mp3 press and compile them into a podcast that has a name that tries and reflects the style of the mix.
On DISCO PILLS I mix up a variety of genres into one smooth groove. Containing progressive, electro, funky, disco, latin and tech elements…these are the disco pills…all thrown into one bottle, shaken up and served cool. WARNING>>>can be addictive!
There are soem great fresh tunes on here, some excellent covers and remixes and plenty of new tracks to grap your attention.
Since this is a non-club-specific mix it best represents my broad style. From nuFunk bar tunes to dirty ’Hard On’ style tracks. There is a total of 20 tracks clocking in to about one hour and 45 minutes of pumping house.
What takes you up, shakes your body onto the ground and makes you jump, pump and groove? Like they say in the MAtrix….”You take the blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Which one will you take?…”
This mix is recorded at 192kps, 146mb and is 1.41 hours in length.

The second of my LIVE SESSIONS mixes of 2012, this mix was extracted from my set at Clapham’s friendliest local gay bar Kazbar.
On Clapham High Street, the Kazbar is a gay icon of the area, being for many their ‘local’ pub…a place to meet friends, drop in for a drink, or a gather before pre-clubbing. Closing at 1am, during the week the bar plays commercial video clips, while on the weekend DJs are bought in to give the place some kick.
This mix was recorded on a Friday night.
Playing a bar needs a careful balance to be accessible but not predictable, uplifting so people may groove, but not. It needs to be the perfect companion to drinking and the perfect beat to warm them up for the next stage of their night.
My approach to the Kazbar is keeping it strictly funky. It’s a place I can let my groovier side out, where a lot of disco flavoured grooves meet vocal house, sexy commercial remixes saddle up to some of the biggest (and best) current club tracks. Latin touches, classic remixes and older tracks from over the last couple of years are also included. Along with the newer tracks, you can enjoy others that are familiar.
Get down and boogie with the Kazbar Kuts. Over 1.5 hour of funky house grooves. LIVE SESSIONS do not contain track listings.
This is the first of my LIVE SESSIONS 2012 recorded at LoProfile’s award winning club PLAY>TIME. PLAYTIME is on every Friday at Soho’s most popular club LoProfile.
Hosted by pornstar Jay Roberts, the night features some of London’s best DJs and a mix of the worlds hottest pornstars dancing and performing.
This was recorded on Friday 2nd March 2012 between 11pm-1am giving you a decent slice of the tunes I like to play at PlayTime.
From anthems to plenty of fresh tracks…this pumps in a funky, progressive, discofired and sexual kind of way. As with all LIVE SESSIONS there will not be a track list. Enjoy 2 hours of pumping, get down (and dirty) house…it will make ya wanna funk!
Please note the quality of this mix is at a higher bit rate of 192kps, making it a larger file but better sounding. A broadband connection is recommended.
Deciding what would be my top 50 tunes of 2011 was no easy task. Browsing through hundred of tracks to dwindle them down to 50 was an exercise of much decision making. Do I include ‘big hits’ or ‘what were truly my favourites’ or a combination of both?
The end decision was to place in my top 50 of 2011 the tracks that would keep me on the dance floor, my favourites…the tunes I enjoyed playing. This means a few of the big tunes of the year will be missing…those that I felt like I had a duty to play instead of what I wanted to play. That would include Stronger by Erik Morillo (couldn’t stand it!), Avicii’s ‘Levels’ and that shocking ‘Bromance’…ahh, what a horrible (but popular) track that was.
Instead I selected a great mix of grooves that best represented by DJ style, my yearly podcasts and tracks I would be happy to compile into a mix (no use listing a top 50 without putting it down into a podcast…is there!?…and that is coming soon) When I looked at the tracks selected I noticed a lot of remixes of older tracks, especially 1980′s tunes and two from Depeche Mode. This cold be just a reflection of those who are now creating music were born in that era. Remixers like Bass Kleph, Noferini, TradeLove and Crazibiza were popping up on a regular basis and funky definitely made a return in a style I generally termed as nuFUNK. Deciding my top 50 was hard but placing them in order was not something I was willing to to do. Play one of these tunes and you will see me going off on the dance floor, hopefully, along with the rest of the floor. These tunes are the ones that shook, rocked ad made me sweat! Some of the tracks will have samples if you’re curious or if you click on the title it will take you to a folder that contains all these tracks (remember, if you like them…to buy them and support the artist) Hence…Top 50 tunes of 2011 (in no particular order)…
Play 2011 is a collection of stomping brand new (well at least 80%) hot house tunes freshly squeezed from the MP3 press. I have also added a few current dance floor favourites and a few current essential house tracks in the mix.
This is fresh in the nuFunk, electro, uplifting and progressive style. To get the most out of PLAY, add a few friends and give it a spin. PLAY is better the second and third time around. By that time you will have gotten to know the hooks and feel for the ones that can really rock you.
The third in the collaboration between scene party boy Disco Matt and yours truly, Brent Nicholls…this mix has been the blender for nearly a month with one track or another sabotaging it’s completion.
After a reshuffle of tracks, adding and subtracting, re-adding and creating an epic worthy of a Ben Hur movie, the final platters that matter have been laid down to rest and here is the Third Podcasts in the Disco Matt series.
Disco Matt says about this mix….”DM’s “Summer Scorchers” podcast, the wait is almost over – Well, just like Disco Matt’s very existence, the production of the latest podcast in the emerging series of musical collaborations between London’s original party boy and scene favourite D.J. Brent Nicholls, has been something of a roller-coaster ride, one track continuing to send the mix off the rails. However, with the most anticipated marriage of musical minds since Benny & Bjorn having successfully cleared a counselling session, the eagerly awaited ten track triumph that that looks set to zoom up the download charts, “Summer Scorchers”, is now in the final mix pressing and will be ready for release within the next 48 hours. …” and here it is!

I Rock, I Sweat I Dance does exactly what it says in the title. A collection of Spring favourites mixed with future Summer floor fillers and with a nod to nuFunk with the mix evolving to a more progressive, pumping and jumping club sound towards the end.
There are some great new tunes and a healthy dose of really hot remixes of house classics (the older i get the more and more frequent these appear!).
Hot tracks include the opening electro stomping ‘I Rock I Sweat’, the incredibly infectious disco stealing ‘Double Kross’ from Patrick Hagenaar (this really is 21st Century disco in all it’s mirrorball glory), Taito Tikaro’s amazing take on Yazoo’s ‘Situation’, the twisted head fuck ‘Animal Rights’ by Deadmu5 vs. Wolfgang Garter, Peter K’s & andrew M’s incredible interpreation of ABBA’s ‘Lay All Your Love On Me’ with ‘Love On Me’ and the trending Gramophonedzie with thier old jazz/blues sampling Out of My Head.
Variety is the spice of life…. and this podcast is alive!
Put on your boogie shoes, pull up your leg warmers and get on down to get up to this collection of 21 floor thumpers!

Launched in January 2008 at Barcode Vauxhall , Industri was intended to be a social soiree aimed at scene clubbers, gogos, off duty DJs and the like with Queen of the London scene Minty as host. Alongside Minty both myself, Brent Nicholls, and Paul Heron played exclusive back 2 back sets.
Industri 2010 Gotta Move
For me, Industri was the gig where I tested new tunes, played classics and tried out tracks that could have either crashed or ignited a main dance floor. Over the years Industri gained regulars, had its up and downs and hosted many memorable and at times wild parties. It launched DJs, Gogos and was the drop off spot for a lot of the Vauxhall clubbers. Of course over time, Industri has changed and after nearly 3 years we decided it need a bit of new direction….and that was to move to BCV sister club Barcode Soho and from a Thursday to a Wednesday night. That’s right, Soho is about to get a bit of Industri style.
In honour of this next chapter in the Industri story, I have compiled a 12 track podcast collecting together a mix of tracks across several genres that best represents my Industri sound. From NuFunk to Tech House flavours, from Latin touches to disco dipped…this is music for moving and grooving.
Like the opening track says:
“Gotta make a move to a, Town that’s right for me, Town to keep me movin’, Keep me groovin’ with some energy,
Well, I talk about it, Talk about it, Talk about it, Talk about it, Talk about, Talk about, Talk about movin,
Gotta move on, Gotta move on, Gotta move on,
Won’t you take me to….Industri……”
