Lo Profile continued to impress throughout the year 2010. While experiencing a somewhat ‘slow’ summer, a main room makeover adding laser, lights and creating a more spacious dance floor saw the venue immeditelty transformed. Lo Profile became hot all over again!
In Soho there really is only one clubbing destination, and most of the gaylist boys and girls know where that is. Usually closed for most of the week, it is the weekends where Lo Profile comes onto it’s own.
It is hard to say which is the better, the Fridya or the Saturday as each has it’s own charm. Perhaps Friday is the more social of the nights and Saturday is the clubbier. The crowd at times reflects this, although the Vauxhall promotions certainly make Lo Profile a fantastic pre-club experience before A:M Afterhours or Beyond.
2010 had many memorable moments for me at LoProfile. Perhaps the best was the 3rd Birthday where by 4am we literally had to push them out the doors to send them home. Toca’s Miracle proved to be one of the biggest tunes dropped that night, and despite its classic status, it just goes t show a good tune is a good tune no matter how old.
LoProfile was my nuFunk House testing ground. It was here a lot of the disco remixes and new styled funky house got it’s first airing. Some they took to straight away and others they grew to love. Another popular sound is the Latino edged ones. You could not fail with a good cha cha cha beat and percussive rhythms. Being the clubbing arm of Gaydar one could expect LoProfile to be forum for commercial housel, but in truth the crowd often went for more an eclectic mix of tracks. Kelis ‘Acapella’ would just as welcomingly be recieved as something more dirty and underground. This gave the DJ a lot of scope to play with and as long as they did not go off the rails, it was usually well recieved. This made LoProfile, along with the freindly staff and amiable management, a fun gig and one of my favourite places to spin.
Of course the most significant differnece came when they installed nealry £25 000 worth of lights and laser and enlarged the dance floor. This impacted upon the music, the atmopshere and the club in the most positive way paving the way for LoProfile to become a true clubbing expereince in it’s own right.
If you like your men well groomerd, nice looking, muscular, gym built and a times with a bit of edge then LoProfile is for you. Although the crowd is generally mixed, being ‘hot’ helps.
LoProfile is open from 10pm-4am Friday & Saturdays and boast some of the scene s finest DJs including Steve Pitron, Paul Heron, Mikey D, Alessandro, Jamie Head, D’Johnny to name but a few…
