DJ Brent Nicholls

Brent began his career on the decks in Sydney in the early 90′s and during that time established himself as a credible name playing at a variety of ‘funked up’ clubs and bars. In that time he has played at various  Mardi Gras’ to various other global dance events and on the underground warehouse scene. Spinning from crowd of 200 to 20000, he is a professional that knows how to adapt and work with various groups, clubs and people. His career has seen him play around the world  from major circuit events in New Zealand (Hero), Montreal (Black and Blue, Twist), Cologne (Pride) and onto to club tours in Amsterdam, Ibiza, Rio, Madrid, Cape Town, Asia, Milan, Paris, Germany and back to Sydney. He is a DJ of with a well established international reputation.

Currently based in London his is a regular at PlayTime, Club Nation, Profile, Love Child, Soho Gym, Blitz, Rupert Street, Kazbar, HustlaBall London, HotWired and the infamous fetish club Hard On (to name a few): a diversity of clubs and venues that best reflects his playing style. From hand raising anthems to sexy electro house, and from underground house to progressive- Brent’s sets are characterised by an uplifting, funky, chunky and energetic driven sound moulded to the suit crowd he is playing for. As a DJ he believes that his job is to educate and entertain and it is the interplay between these two fundamentals that drives his sets and makes them suitable for peak time main floor sets to being deep in the underground. This accounts for his reputation here in London and internationally.

Brent’s other interests include being the webmaster of alist clubbing website www.seenqueen.com, a web designer and a Reiki Master. ‘Variety is the spice of life’ and this is reflected not only in his life but also his taste in music.

Brent Nicholls has played pretty much everywhere across gAylist/land London since landing from Australia around 15 years ago, the list being exhaustive, but has included biggies Action, Beyond, Juicy, Lovechild, Matinee, Pervert & Trade, he also still jetting out across the globe, having played in all five continents as well as at some of the biggest events both at home & abroad.

These aside, Mr Nicholls has been part of the roving residency team from Barcode for many years, playing regularly at BCS & also for Industri at BCV, he is part of the D.J. team at Profile/Lo-Profile, has played at The Edge and also features at Rupert Street.

Brent is, for us, probably THE most talented D.J. we know as his ability to switch between genres, catering for the audience he plays to, is outstanding, he being just as comfortable with hard edged tech & underground sounds, as well as funky electro remixes of classic or up-to-date pop tunes, Lady GaGa & Beyonce being just as home in his playlists as are Mark Knight & David Penn, but with everything in between. What’s more, he has an acute sense of spotting forthcoming dancefloors hits long before many others, which makes his music offers really cutting edge and part of his current repertoire is what he describes as “Nu Funk House” which is very characteristic of his musical direction at the moment, although he is well known for his latin infused electro beats & you will always see him moving to the sounds while D.J.’ing, his sets having both journey tendencies as well as uplifting tones, vocals here & there, but always the freshest new sounds mixed in with old favourites (disco electrique!!).
